Temple of Literature

The Temple of Literature is a Confucian complex built as a national academy in the west of Hanoi's Old Quarter in northern Vietnam. Originally founded as a Confucian temple in 1070, the Temple of Literature quickly became the nation's most famous site of wisdom and teaching - a tradition that has endured into the 21st century. Not only tourists, but also locals appreciate the relaxing tranquility of the temple complex and like to come here to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind for some time. Lined with carefully tended gardens, the path through the temple leads through five courtyards, which are modeled on the individual stages of Confucian teachings and are connected by various gates and pavilions.
